DIY OVERSIZED NOTEBOOK PAPER SIGN 📓✏️

FREE SUPPLY LIST + EXACT MEASUREMENTS

Want to make your own oversized notebook paper sign? I made this one using a 20" × 30" Dollar Tree foam board for my First Day of School freestanding balloon garland.

It’s inexpensive, easy to customize, and you don't need a Cricut to recreate it. Below are the exact measurements and supplies I used.

1. FOAM BOARD

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• 20" × 30" white foam board
• Ruler or measuring tape
• Pencil

I used a basic white foam board from Dollar Tree.

Before adding any paint, lightly mark your measurements in pencil. This makes it much easier to adjust your lines before committing!

2. PINK NOTEBOOK LINE

EXACT MEASUREMENT

Measure 3" in from the left side of the board.

Use this measurement to draw one vertical pink line from the top to the bottom of the foam board.

3. BLUE NOTEBOOK LINES

EXACT MEASUREMENTS

I wanted the top section to be wider, similar to a sheet of notebook paper.

Start your first blue line 6" down from the top of the board.

After that, space each blue line 4" apart.

Your lines will fall at approximately:

6" → 10" → 14" → 18" → 22" → 26"

This leaves approximately 4" between the final line and the bottom of the board.

4. PAINT MARKERS

WHAT I USED

I used POSCA PC-5M Medium Bullet Tip Paint Markers in:

• Light Blue
• Fluorescent Pink
• Black

You don't need to purchase a black paint marker specifically for this project if you already have a regular black permanent marker or Sharpie at home.

5. NOTEBOOK HOLES

EASY DIY METHOD

I added three simple black outlined circles along the left side of the notebook paper.

I started around the first blue line and then skipped a line between each circle.

And you definitely don't need a special stencil!

I grabbed a random round cap from my small paper-clip container and traced it. 😂

I left my circles unfilled because I liked the cleaner look, but you can fill yours in if you prefer.

6. ADDING THE WORDING

WHAT I USED

I used my Cricut Joy + black permanent vinyl to create the First Day of School wording and date.

NO CRICUT? NO PROBLEM!

You can absolutely hand-letter your sign.

Another easy option is using alphabet or letter stickers from a craft store such as Michaels or Hobby Lobby.

Don't worry about making yours exactly like mine—the fun part is being able to customize it for your child!

Make it ahead!

This is an easy piece to knock out before the night-before-school rush.

Make the board ahead of time, personalize it with your child's First Day of School information, and have it ready to add to your balloon setup or use by itself for pictures.

And remember—it doesn't have to be perfect. It's supposed to be fun! 📓✏️
